My Credentials
I was “that kid” in high school, a fangirl of my English teachers, the avid reader who spent my summers by the pool reading Jane Eyre and The Grapes of Wrath for fun. I ultimately graduated in the top ten of my high school, attaining perfect scores on the reading and grammar sections of the ACT. I attended a state university on a full scholarship and majored in English, ultimately becoming the top student in my graduating section. For several years I taught high school and balanced additional school roles as spirit and literature club sponsors, school improvement plan team leader and author, and grant writer.
I left teaching to work on a master’s degree in communications and made A’s in every course I attended before leaving to go to law school, where I won best brief, was bestowed with “best in class” awards, and participated in the upper levels of the moot court tournament. I went on to hang a shingle, but have spent nearly a decade homeschooling my own kids, one who is special needs.
In short, I have a passion for writing and communication, and I know how to convey my knowledge to students of different skill levels.
My “Why”
I love teaching, and I think education is an elevator that should be more readily available to everyone. I believe that teachers should be qualified to teach their subject matter, and I also believe they should genuinely love both students and the subjects they teach. Moreover, I strongly believe that obtaining additional help for mastery in language arts should not be difficult nor expensive.
Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
I am as adamant about protecting students’ privacy today as I was when I taught in a public classroom–more so, actually. I do not solicit data from kids under the age of 13, and I protect the data of everyone. You can check out my terms of service here and my privacy policy here. In my Outschool classes, I will follow Outschool’s privacy protocols to keep your students safe.
